Music, sound and song in Playback Theatre can be very powerful. They can enrich the portrayal of a moment or story, and help to bring a deeper sense of connection and meaning for the teller and the audience.
In this workshop we will play with some simple ideas to improve your use of singing and voice in playback, even if you are not a confident or experienced singer. We will work on short forms that emphasise the use of music and voice, and we'll look at ways to make the most of sound and song in longer stories.
This workshop is for actors and musicians who want to explore and develop the role of music (and the musician) in Playback Theatre. It's ok if you do not feel confident as a singer or if you do not play an instrument. The overall aim is to find more ways to integrate acting and music, so that our performance work is more creative and complete.
